UHN Research & Innovation Cores Newsletter

Dear Readers,

Welcome to the July 2023 issue of the UHN Research & Innovation Cores Newsletter! In this edition, we continue highlighting the core facilities available to UHN research teams and external partners.

In the first article, we explore James Jonkman's journey through the field of microscopy at the Advanced Optical Microscopy Facility (AOMF). From his professional background to his roles and responsibilities at AOMF, James highlights equipment and services that are enabling world-leading research at UHN.

The second article is an interview with Napoleon Law, the lead histotechnologist at STTARR's histopathology core. Napoleon discusses the key challenges faced in histopathology, the rigorous quality control protocols in place, and how STTARR is staying at the forefront of the field. The article also provides insights into Napoleon's background and expertise and the comprehensive range of histology services offered by the core.

Lastly, we are pleased to announce a new UHN Research Core—Biostatistics@UHN, a specialized team of biostatistical experts committed to providing comprehensive support for researchers at every stage of the research process.

Thank you for your time and interest!
